Civil Service Classifications
Each Civil Service (CS) position is placed into a classification based on the assigned duties, responsibilities, and requirements of the job as stated in the job description. Class specifications delineate the basic responsibilities and the minimum skill and knowledge requirements of each classification.
Civil Service positions at Illinois State are placed into titles using a classification system established by the State Universities Civil Service System. A probationary period of either 6 or 12 months is required when entering a Civil Service classification.
