Before interacting with a candidate, please review acceptable/unacceptable question list which can be found at the Pre-Employment Inquiry Guide prior to the telephone interviews, as well as for those individuals involved in on-campus interviews.
During your search, you may find that a recruitment letter is helpful in introducing your candidates to the ISU and Bloomington/Normal communities.
Hiring Paperwork
Policies for appointment of probationary faculty are outlined in the Appointment, Salary, Promotion and Tenure (ASPT) system. The ASPT system is approved by the Illinois State University academic senate and conforms to the Board of Trustees governing policies. Below is the paperwork necessary to hire a new TT:
- Offer Letter – official and signed by employee
- Personnel Action Form
- Personal Data Sheet
- PERS 919
- PERS 140
- I-9
- AA Waiver or Search form approved by ODAA
- SSA 1945 form
- Original Transcripts showing highest degree conferred - If degree received from ISU, then HR can obtain transcripts from mainframe. NOTE: A contingency will be placed on the contract if the transcripts are not received.
