Occurrences

When considering occurrences under VIP you must take into account the time which has passed since a previous occurrence.  In general, if less than a year has passed, you will probably be moving to the next level of disciplinary action. If a year or more has passed, in most instances, you will be repeating the step or beginning the process again.

Range of Discipline

In determining the degree of discipline, where there is a range of discipline, you must consider whether there are mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

  • Mitigating circumstances would normally shift the discipline toward the lower end of the range of discipline.
  • Aggravating circumstances would normally shift the discipline toward the upper end of the range of discipline.
