Effectively using the employment system
Effectively attaching documents
The Illinois State University Employment Web site has a search feature to help you quickly locate position(s) for which you are interested.
The fewer search fields used, the more results you will receive. You may also leave all fields blank to see every vacant position at the University.
You may search using any number of combinations of the fields on the search page. The more search fields you complete, the fewer results will be returned and the more specific information you will receive.
If, for example, you select ‘Academic Advisor’ as the classification title, your search results would return all Academic Advisor openings University-wide. However, if you selected both ‘University College’ as the department and ‘Academic Advisor’ as the classification title, your search results would only return Academic Advisor positions in University College.
There are four types of positions you can search through the employment system:
This field displays a list of all departments on campus. To search by a specific department, select that department from the list or select ‘Any’ to see openings in all departments.
This field shows a list of job class titles for all current open positions. If you know the title of the position you are interested in (for example, Academic Advisor or Secretary I), choose it from the list. If you are not certain of the exact title of the position(s) you are interested in, select ‘Any’.
