Intended Audience

Two different sessions are held. One for College and Department Lead Staff and another for P.I.’s and Fiscal Agents. Invitations will be sent to each group.

Pre and Post Award Grant Process Training

Human Resources, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Grants Accounting offer this training which will discuss the pre and post award grant submission processes.

The training will include information on the following topics:

  • General overview of the grant process
  • Define level of grant support that is expected from lead staff
  • Submitting grants via www.grants.gov
  • Calculating fringe benefits
  • Defining grant-related terminology (buyouts, subcontracts, 2-party agreements, contingency funds)
  • Identifying how/when to request contingency funds
  • Financial processes required in submitting an award proposal
  • Setting up accounts and budgets after an award has been received
  • Processing and monitoring the financial transactions throughout the award
  • Understanding the Proposal Submission Form
  • Budgeting for new hires (Faculty, Staff, Graduate Assistants)
  • Budgeting for current employees (extra pay, summer pay, buyouts)
  • Submitting appointment paperwork to Human Resources and related guidelines
  • Resources to contact for help
