Wellness

The university recognizes the importance of sound health, a productive work force, and the need to maintain physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  Illinois State University encourages employees to participate in programs and activities sponsored by the Wellness Program for Faculty & Staff.

The mission of the Wellness Program for Faculty and Staff at Illinois State University is to offer opportunities that improve the productivity and quality of life of its faculty/staff/retirees and their adult family members.  The university Wellness Program provides an environment that fosters improved health and productivity through convenient and high quality opportunities, in an intimate setting.  Faculty & Staff at Illinois State University choose to nurture themselves by living a more healthful and balanced life.

This mission is accomplished by embracing that well-being is not just about 'the absence of illness', but moving beyond that paradigm to explore balance living in all of the following dimensions of overall health: Social, Occupational, Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Environmental.

Wellness is the rule rather than the exception at Illinois State University, where the employees are conscious of their health through movement, family activities, stress reduction, eating healthfully, social connectedness, nurturing their own spirituality and more.  More than a goal, wellness is the way of life!
