Heart health is at your finger tips! The fitness lab is climate controlled and home to a wide variety of cardiovascular equipment, including elliptical trainers, treadmills, recumbent and upright bikes, rowing machines, stair steppers, StairMaster Crossrobics and Gravitron machines. A Wellness staff member is on site to supervise and assist during hours of operation.
Core Cardio blends box and step movements to increase cardiovascular endurance, plus adds components to increase strength and stability of the core. This unique class is challenging and well-rounded. Instructors: Jill Belongia, Instructor Trainer, and holds certifications through AFAA, ACE, and is a National Trainer for YogaFit, and Kelsey Testa, who holds a certification through AFAA.
Core trains the abdominals and the muscles that support the spine, simultaneously. This energetic class trains these important muscle groups in the fashion that we recruit them for daily purposes, and emphasizes muscular strength through the utilization of hand weights. Our instructor, Lisa Wilson, is certified through National Strength and conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
This popular class is based from the work of Joseph H. Pilates. Focus is on core strength, flexibility and balance. Enhance the connection between your mind and body while increasing your energy. Instructors are Michelle Klunke, Katie Hartmann, and Lisa Wilson. Michelle Klunke holds a Pilates certification through Fit Tour, Katie Hartmann is certified through AFAA, and Lisa Wilson is certified through National Strength and conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

T’ai Chi is referred to as moving meditation. Our T'ai Chi program began in 1993 by Master Yang Yang, and still carrying out his vision and practices is Lilly Meiner our instructor. You must explore this practice of gentleness!
Enjoy splashing around in Metcalf’s heated pool. Our classes vary in format, but usually offer some activity in both shallow and deep water. We offer a variety of equipment to enhance your experience and fun: hydro-fit hand buoys and cuffs, noodles, aqua fins and kickboards. Our instructors have varying years of experience and their own unique teaching styles.
Instructors: Tudy Schmied, Barb Glover, Sarah Hyland, and Katie Hartmann, who holds a certification through AFAA.
Strength training is beneficial for all ages and individuals. Protect your muscle tissue, and keep your bones strong with this invigorating activity. Our weight room supervisors will design individualized programs and are available to answer questions and offer assistance at all times of operation. Our supervisions, Jeremy Haas and Kurt James, are current undergraduate students studying Exercise Science in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation, and Lisa Wilson comes to ISU Wellness with a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, and is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Connect with yourself as you’re guided through ancient poses. Our classes blend several styles of yoga for a creative and unique experience. Those with varying levels of experience will find these classes satisfying. Our instructors are Tona Schenck and Jill Belongia. Both hold certifications through YogaFit.
