The University recognizes the importance of good health and the need to maintain physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  The University encourages its employees to participate in activities and programs under the auspices of the University Wellness Program.  In support of a commitment to the wellness concept, full time employees may, with approval of their supervisors, take release time of one and one half hours per week to participate in Illinois State University Wellness Program activities. Participants in Wellness Program activities are not covered by Worker's Compensation.  The Illinois State University Wellness Program invites those of all fitness levels, ages and body sizes to enjoy participation in our program.

All faculty and staff of Illinois State University, their adult immediate family members, and retirees can participate in Wellness Program activities.  Some activities such as family swim, bowling, "family day at the Children's Discovery Museum," etc. are open to younger family members.  Some fitness activities are open to student and community participation when space is available.
